Apindo, the Indonesian Employers Association disagrees on the point that the tourism potential has yet been maximized by the government, even though the sector has tremendous potential to be the main income source for the country.
Apindo Chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani stated that the government has worked commendably in utilizing the ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ tagline. Nevertheless, he said that the brand has reasonably resulted in nothing.
“It has always been more about branding rather than selling, which does not create transactions. The government must be brave enough to convert that,” said Hariyadi in Jakarta today.
Even though Hariyadi understands that this year’s several natural calamities have impacted the income and tourism of the country, he maintains that the government must work harder to lift up its tourism.
Apindo recommended that the government must expand its regional creativities by optimizing central and regional finance support system to help build up small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and globally market their products.
