The competition saw families from across Indonesia upload videos to YouTube explaining why they wanted to go to New Zealand, using the hashtag #NZfamilyTrip.Tourism New Zealand South and South East Asia Regional Manager Steven Dixon says, “We were very impressed with the entries to the competition which reflect the strong desire for Indonesian families to visit New Zealand for a holiday.”
“Social media is a key channel in Indonesia with 72 million social media users, the third largest in Asia, and is an important tool for making travel decisions.“Over 50 per cent of travellers say seeing a friend’s travel photo on social media inspires them to visit the same destination. Ninety-five per cent use Facebook for holiday activities pre-departure, while 60 per cent factor online opinions, such as Trip Advisor, into their travel recommendations.”
“The social media campaign aimed to create conversation about destination New Zealand in Indonesia and get more Indonesian families considering New Zealand as the destination for their next holiday,” says Steven.
