Indonesian tourism lures overseas investors

Indonesian tourismArief Yahya, Tourism Minister of Indonesia along with the ministry’s head of development, speeding up for ten tourist destinations to get major focus, Hiramsyah S. Thaib, carried on an official meeting with David Burke, the CEO of Wellington Capital Advisory (WCA) on Oct 10th.


WCA is known as an independent capital advisory firm located in Jakarta and Singapore. At the time of the meeting, Burke explained that his company has been getting many requests in terms of investment in the tourism sector in Indonesia with clients coming from London, Paris and New York.


Also, WCA discloses its interest in assisting and promoting investment opportunities in the 10 New Balis and other places. Besides, it has requested for a list of probable tourist destinations where their clients can make an investment.


“Of course it should be in line with the government’s development plans,” said Hiramsyah.


At present, the tourism sector of Indonesia is in need of US$10 billion for development.


“Tourism is one of the leading sectors in Indonesia. WCA is making the right decision in helping the ministry to develop the country’s tourism,” said Arief.


Up till the month of June, the rise in overseas visitors has reached 22.4 percent. In comparison to the national economic growth which reached 5.01 percent, the development of international tourists is equal to the foreign exchange income which is four times higher than the national financial growth.


“Regarding to branding, this year Wonderful Indonesia takes the 47th spot, meanwhile Amazing Thailand is at the 68th spot and Malaysia Truly Asia is at the 85th spot,” said Arief.
