It is estimated that the airport’s total area would be measuring between 1,300 and 1,500 hectares. Gallant Venture that is the parent company of Bintan Resort, owned by Salim Group, is believed to fund up to US$150 million for this massive project.
Abdul Wahab, general manager, PT Bintan Resort Cakrawala mentioned that they had been conducting the land preparation for this and at present they are working on the runway airport development. Apart from the airport, Sriwijaya Air’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) is also going to be build here.
