InterContinental Carlton Cannes has once again been awarded the prestigious Green Globe certification. The iconic hotel, a recognized actor in the luxury hotel business, has achieved this award based on its initiatives and its performances in sustainable development. In line with the IHG brand promise, the InterContinental Carlton Cannes has demonstrated outstanding corporate responsibility for years.
“Our Environmental Management System not only monitors energy, water and waste consumption, but also provides recommended actions – “green solutions” – to improve energy conservation and our carbon footprint score. A wide variety of green initiatives are in place at the InterContinental Carlton Cannes, to integrate the sustainable development approach at all levels of the operation. The “Wheel of Success” measures the progress of the company towards their goals, based on four criteria: staff, customer experience, responsible business, and financial returns.
The InterContinental Carlton Cannes is actively involved with the local community and works closely with a number of charitable programs. Projects, such as Les Restos du Coeur are of great importance to the hotel. The “restaurants of the heart” provide volunteer assistance to people, who live below the poverty line, access to free meals, and participating in social and economic integration. Hotel staff dedicates many hours to distribute balanced packed lunches, and to cook hot meals for the homeless – especially during the most critical time of year, the winter season.
All charitable endeavors increase awareness and comply with the IHG approach to make a positive difference to the community. It is part of the business strategy to ensure that donations have the biggest possible impact to create more sustainable communities and better lives.
The IHG Green Engage™ program supports hotels in their effort to become “green” through reducing energy, water and waste consumption. Over 2,300 IHG hotels are enrolled in the program. IHG has worked with Green Globe to develop a streamlined certification process for IHG Green Engage™ hotels seeking third party recognition.
