Today and tomorrow (16th & 17th March), the resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh will host an international conference on tourism and physiotherapy. This conference is being organized by Cairo University and will be attended by MPs affiliated with parliament’s tourism committee, as well as local and foreign travel agents.
Sahar Talaat, head of parliament’s tourism committee, said that this conference will be a golden opportunity for Sharm El-Sheikh to reclaim its status as the Middle East’s number one beach resort. He said that the resort town has already started regaining its pre-2015 tourist traffic.
A large number of physiotherapists from America and Europe will be participating in the conference. The conference was opened by the president of Cairo University, Gaber Nasser. The deadly crash of a Russian passenger plane in Sinai in October 2015 had negatively affected Sharm El-Sheikh and other Red Sea tourist resorts in Egypt.
Alaa Balbaa, head of the university’s Faculty of Physiotherapy said, “But we hope that tomorrow’s conference and others more to come will help the city compensate its losses and become again a top destination on the world’s tourist map.”
