In its international edition, FITUR beats record participation

Once again, Madrid will turn out to be the center of attention for the international tourism community with FITUR, the International Tourism Fair, arranged by IFEMA. The event for this year will be even bigger, both in terms of participation in its international scope, and in its new content, in accordance with the record growth in industry, both in Spain and worldwide.

 

The edition of this year will target on sustainability, specialization and new technologies, features that are constantly molding the industry, and which will be the central theme of a strong offering focused at improving tourism management, trade contacts, and the promotion of destinations and traveler experiences. In a single platform, all of these come together, and at the beginning of the year, an important moment for defining strategies for 2019.

 

Also, the International Tourism Trade Fair for this year takes place in a context of worldwide growth for the sector. As per the WTO figures, the destinations received 1000 million foreign tourists between January and September 2018, an annual growth of 5%.

 

Spain greeted 78.4 million international tourists in the first eleven months of 2018, with spending rising 2.8% on the previous year, churning out revenues of €84,811 million. Also, the constant growth of the outbound tourism of Spain is noteworthy, as confirmed by increased spending by Spanish tourists abroad, up 12.3% between January and October 2018.

 

The positive business conditions that these statistics show will be well reflected in FITUR 2019. This year, it will attract 886 main stand-holders, a growth of 8.3%, and 10,487 companies from 165 countries and regions.
