D. Narasinga Rao, IRCTC Group General Manager (South Central Zone), was in this place as part of the continuing ‘Paryatan Parv-2017’ and explained that on Tuesday the IRCTC was managing tourism packages to well-known temples and vacation spots in Odisha, Gujarat and other States from Hyderabad. And now, it was aiming on arranging such packages from Vijayawada.
“The IRCTC’s Tirupati one-day package is a success. The Corporation staff will arrange transportation to Tirumala from Tirupati bus or railway station, ‘Seeghra Darshan’, meals and other facilities for ₹885”, he said.
N. Sanjeevaiah, the Joint General Manager (Catering and Tourism) explained that the IRCTC was all geared up to introduce at Vijayawada station, an Executive Lounge on platform No.1. Once live, it would be the first of its kind in the South Central Railway (SCR). “The Executive Lounge will have airconditioning, television, Wi-Fi, reading room, cafeteria, refreshing rooms, resting and other facilities. The staff will charge some amount from the public for two hours and passengers can avail themselves of the facility,” Mr. Sanjeevaiah said.
Deputy General Manager N.D. Bhujanga Rao expressed that the IRCTC had organized a meet up with the officials of AP Tourism and talked on introducing ‘Mukhyamantri Teerth Specials’.
“Once the discussions with the State tourism officials are fruitful, the IRCTC will arrange packages to the tourist spots in coastal districts,” Mr. Bhujanga Rao said.
