WTM or the world travel market is working as a significant driving force in promoting overseas tourism in Ireland for 2017 and onward. Patrick O’Donovan, the minister of state for tourism and sport joined hands with 70 different tourism businesses along with Tourism Ireland at WTM today. In the coming three days, various Irish companies will exchange talks and meet ups with different British tour operators of international standard to negotiate on crucial business contract for the upcoming year. 2015 witnessed more than £2.5 billion of business at the WTM as per the statistics shared by the event organizers.
Considering Brexit’s potential importance on Irish tourism in the upcoming years, Ireland is all set to mark its impression on international tourism this year at the WTM. Ireland is keeping no stones unturned at the WTM to grab the attention of the global travel professionals and media people. The country is all prepared to highlight Star Wars and its connection to Ireland along with its Wild Atlantic Way, Dublin and Ancient East.
To quote Patrick O’Donovan, ‘World Travel Market provides an excellent platform for Tourism Ireland, and the participating tourism enterprises, to highlight Ireland’s world-class tourism experience to international tour operators. It is remarkable to see the level of business activity that is under way at the Tourism Ireland stand. It is often said that Ireland’s people are its greatest tourism asset and seeing the hard work that is being put in here by Tourism Ireland, and by the representatives of the participating businesses, I have to agree. While there are new challenges for Irish tourism as a consequence of Brexit, I am confident that the tourism industry can adapt quickly to enable continued growth from international markets’.
