Tourism in Israel has been very focused in tourism promotions in India through different travel shows and the roadshows in different cities of India, by easing the visa process.
Israel Ministry of Tourism India Director Hassan Madah said that the year 2017 in the first seven months have already hosted 34,000 Indian tourists. This is expected to go up to 55,000 by the end of this year. He said that currently there are 3-4 direct flights from Mumbai to Tel Aviv, with numerous connecting flights from the Middle-East.
Israel and India has introducing some of the direct Air India flights connecting New Delhi with Israel in a few months. He said that adding if it commences then the tourist traffic is likely to surge from India and the number this year may reach nearly 90,000. There are few global airlines that are travelling from India to Israel, who are waiting for the Air India flights to be launched.
Israel wants to see a flow in tourist’s arrivals from India. The Israel tourism industry is doing massive promotions in India since last few years.
They focused in many promotional activities in different travel events. Due to this, they have set a target of reaching one lakh tourists from India by the end of 2018.
For the tourism promotions in India, Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) is spending USD 5-6 million in India this year.
Israel has positioned its self as an affordable premium destination in the global tourism industry.
It is targeting the Asian travellers mainly for pilgrimage, leisure and meetings, incentives, conferences, events (MICE), including weddings and in different segments.
According to the Tourism Board, they are mainly focusing on pilgrimage, leisure and MICE as they are huge segments in India.
It is to be notified that the tourists from United States and Europe, including Russia are the top source markets of Israel tourism industry.
