The government of Israel has brainchild a new marketing strategy with support from their New York office where Oscar gift bags worth $55,000 a piece will be distributed to 26 Oscar contenders in the top film categories as well as to the presenters. The total cost is coming up to $1.5million.
Each of the bags contains a voucher that covers all expenses paid for a 10 day luxury trip for two to Israel. The minister felt that he wished the big time Hollywood celebrities to experience the country first hand and not through the media.
He is hopeful that if the stars cash on their vouchers their visit will bring tremendous attention from fans and followers on the social media giving Israel an ideal boost for its tourism.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lawrence, Sylvester Stallone, Christian Bale and Kate Winslett have agreed to tour Tel Aviv and walk through the old cities of Jerusalem.
