A team of 17 Israeli surfers, supported by Peru’s Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry, arrived in Peru to promote the country as a destination for surfing and other water sports. The said visit is part of promotion efforts by Tel Aviv-based Peru Trade Office (OCEX) to take advantage of a new tourism-niche involving Israel.
The delegation will be headed by champion athlete Amit Inbar. This is the third time Inbar visits Peru, where he will stay for 30 days.
The measure aims to attract close to 150,000 Israelis engaged in this activity.
According to OCEX, water-sports —such as surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and Stand Up Paddling (SUP)— are well-developed in the aforementioned country. On the other hand, Northern Peruvian beaches offer the world’s highest wave.
In this sense, Minister Magali Silva welcomed the arrival of renowned surfer Inbar among other 16 athletes, who were to leave to Northern La Libertad region’s Chicama beaches.
OCEX-Tel Aviv has been promoting Peru as one of the best surfing destinations since 2015.
The measure is part of the Ministry’s strategy aimed at positioning the country’s offer on increasingly-specialized markets.
