Italian Golf initiative to garner 25 percent more green fees

italyItaly has been among the top tier of European Golf destination increasing the international green fees by a substantial 25 per cent within a couple of years.


Italy Gold and More, the first pan-Italian international promotional golf project is a driving force. The current figures revealed that the rounds played by international golfers in the country has risen by around a quarter since 2015.


The data in the year 2016 revealed that the green fee bookings rose by 15% , an additional increase of 10 percent this year. It was reported that the numbers were more in north and south Italy.


Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto and Sicily saw a rise during last year, the number of foreign players in Trentino Alto Adige, Fruili Venezia Giulia almost doubled during the same span of time.



Bruno Bereto, the project co-ordinator for Italy Golf and More stated that this year was pretty exciting and encouraged golf in Italy that has been observed in the current figures. The number of foreign golfers visiting our regions and experience our wide and varied golf products is on a constant surge.



They had the intention of building the country’s influence as international golf tourism destination building a momentum by 2011 Ryder Cup.



The new website of Italy Golf and More, features extensive details on the country’s golf courses and regions. It provides a good insight about the many delights offered by ‘La Dolce Vita’.

The information is easy to access and very comprehensive in nature and available in two languages – English and Italian. It gives a good chance to know more about the history, culture and gastronomic specialties of any featured region.


Italy Golf and More collaborated with 12 private sector partner regions, the Italian Golf Federation and the Ministry of Tourism ( MIBACT). It has come together to make a seven figure investment to increase awareness and the future of golf tourism traffic from major European markets to Italy.
