Italian travel programme featuring Wild Atlantic Way scoops top award in Rome

REPRO FREE 25/11/2015, Rome – A travel programme featuring the Wild Atlantic Way has scooped a top award in Italy. The annual press awards of Adutei (Associazione dei Delegati Ufficiali del Turismo Esterno in Italia – the association of foreign tourist boards in Italy) took place in Rome last night. The awards recognise the best in Italian radio and TV travel broadcasts – and a travel programme called Alle Falde del Kilimangiaro was awarded first prize for their show highlighting the Wild Atlantic Way. Tourism Ireland in Milan invited cameraman Annapia Chico and presenter Camila Raznovich to come and explore the Wild Atlantic Way in spring 2014. Tourism Ireland in Milan invited camerawoman Annapia Chico to come and explore the Wild Atlantic Way in spring 2014, for theAlle Falde del Kilimangiaro show, which airs on the national TV station, RAI Tre. She filmed in Connemara, Galway city and Co Clare.

 

Niamh Kinsella, Tourism Ireland’s manager Italy, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Alle Falde del Kilimangiaro show highlighting the Wild Atlantic Way has been singled out for this prestigious award. Tourism Ireland has been working hard to build awareness of the Wild Atlantic Way here in Italy and elsewhere around the world.

 

“Italy is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and 2015 looks set to be another record year for Italian visitors, with this week’s CSO figures showing an increase of +25% for August to October.We are determined to ensure that growth continues. We have a busy promotional campaign under way right now  aimed at boosting late-season travel to Ireland from Italy and to position us well for 2016.”
