Italy invites tourists to be part of their republic day celebrations

Southern Italy and Sicily
Descending from Rome to Palermo, the south of Italy gives way to the fiery splendours of Sicily and the towering shadow of Italy’s largest active volcano, Etna. Beginning in the beautiful city of Rome, guests will enjoy an orientation drive to see St. Peter’s Basilica and other sights. Travelling south, a Local Specialist will take a fascinating walking tour of the excavations at Pompeii before travelling to Sorrento and the Isle of Capri. In Taormina, guests will admire the views from Monte Tauro overlooking the sea and will have free time to shop for souvenirs and handmade lace on the Corso. In the evening, guests will savour a Be My Guest dinner on a beautiful Sicilian winery and restaurant overlooking Mount Etna. After a full day of free time in Taormina and a day of visiting the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, guests will travel to the Sicilian capital, Palermo where they will spend two nights exploring the Piazza Bellini, the magnificent 12th century Norman Cathedral and the town of Monreate. This 10-day trip was US$2,625 and is now US$2,363 per person twin share for a 25 September departure.

Northern Italy including Cinque Terre
The 10-day Northern Italy Including Cinque Terre is the perfect trip for regular travellers to Italy that are looking to explore cities not included on other itineraries. Starting and ending in Milan, this trip take guests to the heart of each northern city, stopping in Baveno, Santa Margherita, Parma, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cinque Terre, where guests will visit two of the hillside villages only accessible by boat or train. The north is known for its incredible cuisine, and foodies will delight in a visit to a working prosciutto factory, where they’ll sample the best the region has to offer, as well as a trip to a family-run “caseificio” to discover the history and process of making real Parmigiano reggiano cheese. Horticulturists will be happy to stop at the beautiful botanical gardens of Villa Taranto on the way to Baveno, where they’ll also enjoy lunch and free time to explore. The highlight of this trip, however, is the exclusive Be My Guest dinner at Isola Madre, in the middle of Lake Maggiore. Trafalgar guests will sit down to an exclusive meal at a family restaurant, with local delicacies like cured salami, fresh focaccia bread, fresh fish from the lake, and risotto cooked with Gavi wine and parmesan. This 9-day trip was US$2,195 and is now US$1,976 per person twin share for a 28 August departure. For a 25 September departure, price was US$2,175 and is now US$1,958 per person twin share.

Italian Holiday
With Italy being Trafalgar’s most popular destination, it’s no surprise that the 7-day Italian Holiday is popular amongst travellers. Starting and ending in Rome, the trip visits the country’s most well-known cities, such as Florence, Lake Garda and Venice.  Guests will be treated to an exclusive Be My Guest dining experience at Lake Maggiore, as they head to an idyllic island on a private boat trip, where their host will share secrets of the island’s history as a delicious meal is served. Travellers will experience all the incredible sights, sounds and smells of beautiful Italia as they visit a traditional glass-blowing factory in Venice, gaze up at the extraordinary ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City and explore the renaissance architecture of Florence.
