ITE & MICE Hong KongThe annual ITE Hong Kong, which includes the leisure focused 31st ITE and the 12th ITE MICE, will next be held from June 15 to 18, 2017 at Hall 1A to Hall 1E of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The city’s only travel fair, ITE last year drew from 52 destinations from all over the world 600 plus exhibitors of which 86% from abroad!  These destinations are from the continents of Africa, North and Latin America, Asia and Europe, from the Indian and Pacific oceans, overall, with around half from outside Asia!

While each year there are good number of destinations and exhibitors relatively new to Asian travelers, often popular Asian destinations, such as China (mainland) and Japan with each of around 70 stands, take significant presences in ITE!

Indeed, ITE ranks among the top in Asia by international profile of exhibitors, thus making it particularly attractive to regional travel trade and travel veterans who can meet service providers coming directly from various international destinations.

More New Destinations This Year

Many in ITE are repeating exhibitors!  This year, repeating pavilions with the largest expansion are Guam which doubles in size, Taiwan taking over 400 sqm and South Korea of over 30 booths including related independent exhibitors!

Confirmed and reserved new exhibitors this year, which include official pavilions / stands and individual exhibitors, come from Barcelona of Spain, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Maldives, Pakistan, Palau, Peru, Philipines and Vienna of Austria etc. These will likely bring the total number of destinations present this year to close to 60!

True, new destinations mean new exhibitors, which in fact can also be found in many repeating pavilions. More importantly, new travel products can be found not only in new but also in many of the repeating exhibitors!  Therefore, ITE this year will not only be bigger but looks set to be more interesting too!

Theme Travels Highlighted in ITE

Nowadays, travelers especially the affluent FIT often look for interesting / unique experiences in their holidays, and theme travels are gaining popularity fast!  In fact, ITE is the earliest and among the few in Asia promoting theme travels!

Each year, ITE promotes around 10 trendy themes through seminars, special displays and targeted promotions etc.  For examples, 132 exhibitors promoted Sport Tourism in last ITE while 22% trade visitors and 27% public visitors interested; 130 exhibitors promoted Eco / Wildlife Tourism while 28% trade visitors and 29% public visitors interested; 194 exhibitors promoted Driving Tours while 25% trade visitors and 27% public visitors interested.

Some new exhibitors will also be promoting related theme travel products such as Skiing in the European Alps, Religious Tours in the Middle East and Trekking in the Himalayas etc.

Other highlighted themes include MICE / Corporate travel (188 exhibitors); In-depth & Culture (152 exhibitors), Cruise (58 exhibitors) and Overseas Wedding (117 exhibitors) etc.

Over 120 Travel Seminars draw Serious Visitors

Combining a trade and public travel fair, ITE in two trade days over 12000 regional buyers and trade visitors with 6000 from travel agents in the region and 2400 from corporations and MICE; and in two public days 88000 public visitors with 84% prefer traveling in FIT / private group.

Exceptionally, over 100 travel seminars are held in public days of ITE with the most popular ones drawing over 200 audiences each, while held in trade days are over 20 seminars on leisure, MICE and Corporate Travel!

The large number of seminar held enhances interactions between exhibitors and visitors, and reflect well on quality and seriousness of the visitors particularly those FIT visitors.

Organized by TKS Exhibition Services Ltd, ITE is supported by China National Tourism Administration, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Macao Government Tourism Office, travel and MICE associations in the region.
