Jamaica will host the sustainable tourism conference- “UNWTO (United National World Travel Organization), the Government of Jamaica and World Bank Group Conference on Jobs & Inclusive Growth: Partnership for Sustainable Tourism”, in this November at Montego Bay Convention Center to discuss about the growth of tourism and the responsibility to visitors and the nationals.
This meeting is the result of the collaboration and the effort of around 800 tourism decision makers from 157 countries including the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association, Chemonics, George Washington University and the U.N. General Assembly.
In this association meet, the spotlight will be to bring the awareness to do the tourism in a right way, which has a huge capacity to empower more people by catering new jobs and providing opportunities to educate the people in conserving the cultural and historical heritages of the country and the environment as well.
This summit will also inform the economic impact on the country with this tertiary business sector, which is now booming with its best position with collaboration with the business leaders and the Government of Jamaica. It will also help to promote the sustainable economic growth, social inclusiveness, employment, elimination of poverty, Resource efficiency, environmental protection, climate change and maintaining of cultural diversity.
With his conventional meeting, it will improve the economic and environmental sustainability of travel, with the generation of good jobs and raising standard of living in the different tourism destinations.
The sustainable travel will also foster in stimulating the trade and linkages between the tourism destinations and the travel providers. It helps in respecting and protecting the natural and cultural environments that draw all those tourists in the first place.
The Minister of Tourism in Jamiaca, Edmund Bartlett visited Washington, D.C., and spoke with the travel leaders from both government and private sector on the impact of tourism as an economy generator to reduce poverty.
Jamaica, Caribbean island country also known as the melting pot of African, Asian and European culture, is also fostered with the good resort, cruise and luxury tourism opportunity. It also maintains the responsible tourism along with the volunteer-tourism, to educate the local people about the importance of the destinations, environment and the tourism opportunities.
