With an aim to get all geared up smartly for embracing the increasing number of tourist arrivals during Christmas and also New Year’s, the Japan Saipan Travel Association or JSTA, along with its tourism partners had supervised a clean up of the important tourist district of Garapan on 23rd December, 2017.
As many as 52 volunteers from 20 different companies and officers had joined the cleanup that had commenced from about 6.30 a.m.
The volunteers majorly included children. They were all spread out and cleaned up along both the roadside and the beach from American Memorial Park to the Carolinian Affairs Office.
The Consular Office of Japan, Marianas Visitors Authority, Northern Marianas Dive Operators Association, Aqua Blue, Aqua Connections, Divesite With, Himawari Kenbukan, HIS Saipan Inc., Kan Pacific, Make Sure Diving, Marianas Sports Club, Oleai Beach Bar and Grill, Pacific Eagle, Pacific Micronesia Tours, Tasi Tours and Transportation, SNE SAIPAN and KCA Corporation were the various organizations joining JSTA in their beautification efforts.
This cleanup attempt had netted more than 100 lbs. of trash as compared to nearly 150 lbs. in the year 2017 in the same holiday cleanup.
