Israel’s hope in the revolution of the hotel industry is slowly coming into effect with thousands of new hotels making its way. As per the recent datas presented by Jerusalem Development Authority, the city got 1700 new hotels in 2015-2016 with 5000 more impending new hotels in the coming five years.
Some of the top hotel chains who have grabbed maximum headlines are the American Colony Hotel, Waldorf Astoria international hotel chain, Hotel Yehuda, Orient Hotel and Mamilla Hotel. Most of these hotel chains have well-known connections Jerusalem luxury properties which are owned by wealthy Jews residing in various countries of the world. Additionally, the scheme provides for staying to the overseas as well local visitors in the city. The hotel rooms are designed to accommodate the increasing visitor numbers in last few years. In 2015, overnight foreign visitors reached 2.5 million which is tantamount to 31 percent increase than last year.
Jerusalem municipality and the Jerusalem Development Authority have collaborated to overcome the deficit in hotel rooms and provide rooms for the rising tourist numbers. Through ‘green track’, officials tried to encourage private developers in building rooms and hotels for the increasing visitors.
