Philippa Bell, whose fiancé Joe Monkhouse was on the flight, said that the pilot shouted “emergency” over the loudspeaker about an hour into the journey and the oxygen masks came down.
The plane was diverted to Frankfurt and the oxygen masks came down. The passengers exited the plane on the runway itself however and no one was hurt.
Jet2 told The Independent in a statement:
“Flight LS509 from Newcastle to Prague diverted to Frankfurt this afternoon due to a technical fault indication. Our flight crew followed procedure and made a controlled descent before landing safely. A replacement aircraft is now on its way to Frankfurt and our customers will continue their journey to Prague later this evening. We would like to apologise to all those customers affected but their safety is always our number one priority.”
Last week, a Jet2 flight made an emergency landing at Barcelona which was enroute to Leeds from Ibiza as there was a decompression in the cabin.
