JetBlue flight makes emergency landing due to mechanical fault

JetblueAn aircraft of JetBlue that was travelling to Palm Beach in Florida on Monday from New York City was compelled to make an abrupt emergency landing in North Carolina.


Flight 461 had taken off from LaGuardia Airport around 7.30 a.m.


But then, when it was just two hours into the flight, the pilot of the plane suddenly reported smoke on the plane.


Thereafter the company released an official statement explaining how the commercial jet was forced to go for the emergency landing in Raleigh-Durham International Airport owing to certain mechanical issues. Tracking service, Flightaware had identified the jet as an Airbus A320 and JetBlue has notified on its website that it has 160 seats.


The tracking service said that the plane landed around 9.15 a.m. in North Carolina.


The aircraft was scheduled to land in Florida at 10.20 a.m. However, right now it is expected to arrive at 5.02 p.m. Jeffrey Hammerstein said that six people had been evaluated at the scene by the team of medics and two more passengers were rushed to a hospital.


He mentioned that none of the injuries suffered by the passengers were life-threatening.


Having said that, some of the passengers complained of headaches and burning sensation in their eyes. Currently, JetBlue flight 461 is enroute to its final destination in Florida, as declared by its official status.
