The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation or JTDC with an endeavor to endorse tourism in the State is going to initiate adventure tourism at five tourist destinations. In the early phase, the five places where the adventure tourism will start are Naterhat Lake, Kanke Dam Park, Betla National park, Chandil Dam, and Patratu Dam. Starting from January 25 to February 12, the JTDC has arranged the itinerary for five places.
To quote the State Tourism department secretary, Rahul Sharma, “The department with an aim to promote tourism at various tourist destinations has decided to launch adventure tourism. In the initial phase we are starting the activities at five places, but later more tourists’ places will be covered.”
According to JTDC itinerary, from January 25 to February 3, adventure sports will be organized at Naterhat Dam and Kanke dam, from February 2 to 6, adventure sports will take place at Betla National Park, while from February 2 to 11 the adventure games will be held at Chandil Dam and last from February 8 to 12 the adventure games will be arranged at Patratu Dam.
Sources mentioned that the government is aiming in encouraging adventure sports as Jharkhand in spite of having rich flora and fauna didn’t succeed in developing these tourists’ destinations.
Sources also mentioned that the corporation has taken some private agencies which will manage the adventure game activities. These agencies will provide equipment for running adventure sports activities.
Few sports activities which will be under adventure sports section are Cycling, Tracking, Para cycling, Rock climbing, fishing, Jungle safari, nature trail among others.
