John Travolta donates personal plane to Australian Museum

JohnThe beloved Boeing 707 of actor and aviation enthusiast, John Travolta will be donated to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) in Australia.


The actor purchased the 707 from Qantas Airways when the airline retired the 1964 jet in 1995. Travolta and wife Kelly Preston has a home in the Florida community where members own their jets, land on a private runway and taxi.


The actor the Qantas brand ambassador since 2002 has strong connection with the country and is extremely happy with his donation.


Travolta said in a statement the aircraft has to be restored to a safe flying state and with the collective effort of the people. He hopes to be a part of the crew to fly the aircraft to Australia.


Bob De La Hunty, HARS president, mentioned that they have mutual respect for old planes and was always interested to be a part of Boeing 707. When they got to hear that he was looking at not continuing with his Boeing 707, they got in touch. After detailed discussions and negotiations Travolta jumped to the idea.
