The conference would be themed ‘Tourism in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA): Competitiveness for Sustainable Growth’.
It would be raising awareness and exchange of knowledge on the effect of sustainable tourism development as per Lina Mazhar Annab, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities. The conference of part of the activities of the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism, she said to portray the international goals of sustainable development till the year 2030.
Sustainable urban tourism aims to develop the environment and preserve the cultural heritage of regional communities.
Therefore they would provide a process of collaboration between the concerned parties to usher in some change.
Also an agreement would be signed between the World Tourism Organization and seven international companies along with the Jordanian National Tourism Associations to promote the concept of social responsibility values and practices.
The two-day regional conference would be hosted in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the German Amman Municipality and with the technical support of the World Tourism Organization, she said.
