Overnight stays for solo travelers reached 3.8m while 314,000 for group travelers which is 19.9 percent and 5.7 percent respectively.
All through 2016, Kingdom of Jordan witnessed tourists from diverse portfolio. Travelers from Asia-Pacific had a rise of 19.5 percent followed by Europe with 6 percent, Africa with 5 percent and America with 3 percent respectively.
However, growth in visitor traffic wasn’t satisfactory as it fell 0.6 percent to JD2.87bn ($4 bn). This downward curve happened second time in a row. Nevertheless, it was less severe than 2015 which records a slump of 7.1 percent.
As per MoTA, Domestic inflow in Jordan was quite modest in 2016 with $108.6m. To fill in the gap, government is taking adequate measures as well. To quote, Lina Annab, minister of tourism and antiquities, told a press conference in mid-January, ‘’ We seek to transfer part of the outbound revenues to domestic tourism revenues by developing touristic products at various sites across the country to encourage citizens to visit.’’
