As per official figures released on Monday, in the first two months of this year, the tourism revenue of the Kingdom rose to 16.2 percent which is tantamount to $652 million which was $561 in 2015. Tourism revenue reached $284.3 million in February 2017 which is up by 21.8 percent as comparison to the last year when the amount went up to $233.4 million as per the data released by the Central Bank of Jordan.
In February 2017, tourism revenues increased to 17 per cent, in terms of individual overnight visitors which is 262,500 tourists in comparison to 224,400 tourists in February last year. In 2016 Individual overnight visitors increased to 3.86 million which was 2.6 per cent increase in comparison to 2015. However, group overnight visitors were around 314,000 which is a 20 percent increase, as per the figures released by Tourism Ministry.
Issa Gammoh, Tourism Ministry Secretary General told Petra on Monday that the number of group visitors to the Kingdom in the first two months of 2017 increased by 84 per cent in comparison to 2016.
Between January-February this year, more than 48,724 group tourists visited Jordan. Last year, this number was 26,500 group tourists.
