On coming 8th July, a ceremony will be hosted in Hanoi to present the “Vietnam Tourism Award 2017” to different businesses who have performed the best in 2016. It all first started in 1999, this one of the most prestigious annual award of the sector is all geared up to take the center stage right after a meeting in celebration of Vietnam Tourism Day (July 9).
At a press conference, the schedule was declared by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in Hanoi on 4th of July which provided information on the sector’s performance in the first half of 2017 and its future related plans.
As per Vu Quoc Tri, VNAT office chief, the number of overseas tourists to Vietnam in the initial six months of 2017 was at a higher side in comparison to the same period 2016, with China and the Republic of Korea contributing the highest number of visitors to the country.
On the April 40-May 1st, the domestic market recorded the most significant growth on holidays and in early summer, he added.
Vietnam was positioned 67th among 136 economies in the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s recently released Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) 2017, going up eight places in comparison to the ranking in 2015.
The Tourism Department of the Ho Chi Minh City seized the occasion in order to launch the 13th International Travel Expo HCM City, an annual international tourism fair among five Mekong basin countries – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. From July 7 to 9, the event has been scheduled and is expected to witness the number of overseas participants increased by 20 percent in comparison to last year.
