Jumeirah Al Naseem, the fourth and final chapter of Madinat Jumeirah, has teamed up with one of Britain’s most successful professional cyclists, David Millar, to bring the acclaimed ‘Ultimate Pro-Cycling Experience’ to Dubai.
Cycling enthusiasts can experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride side-by-side with the former GB captain and discover the incredible facilities Dubai has to offer for cyclists. The cycling weekend takes place on 10-14 October 2017 and is priced at 15,000AED ++ for a four night, full board stay for two people at Jumeirah Al Naseem.
Guests booking the experience will be treated like pros, with a personalised Castelli kit and support from the expert team at Wolfi’s Bike Shop, who will be on hand to provide dedicated support and mechanical assistance throughout the trip.
David Millar said: “I came to Dubai with certain preconceptions, but these were completely eradicated as soon as I rode my bike with Wolfi and the cycling community here. There is some great cycling in Dubai, and probably the biggest surprise was Jumeirah Al Naseem’s reception to me as a cyclist – it felt like a Mediterranean hotel in design and atmosphere, only made better thanks to the Arabian hospitality.”
Experiences include the chance to ride up to 100km on the dedicated Al Qudra cycle track in the desert, which takes in views of the beautiful sand dunes and local wildlife including the Arabian oryx. Riders can also try climbing Jebel Jais which has an elevation of 1,911 m and is the United Arab Emirate’s highest mountain. There’s also the opportunity to join a Friday morning ride with the Dubai Roadsters, a local cycling group, which takes in varied terrains for cyclists of all levels.
Riders can then unwind at the end of the day at Madinat Jumeirah’s 2km pristine private beach, indulge in a post-ride revitalising massage at the Talise Spa or keep up with their training at Talise Fitness’ high altitude suite where they will be able to ride up to 2000m above sea level, before settling down for a relaxed dinner hosted by David Millar in one of the resort’s 50 restaurants.
The concierge desk at Jumeirah Al Naseem can assist with organising bike rental and transportation to the main cycling locations even for visitors unable to join the four-day cycling experience.
Cycling in Dubai is increasing in popularity, which has fuelled the construction of dedicated cycle tracks around the city, including Nad Al Sheba and Al Qudra. The city has also hosted top tier cycling race, the Dubai Tour for the past four years; a race which offers an impressive line-up of teams such as Astana Pro Team, Team Sky, Movistar Team and BMC Racing Team. Previous winners include Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel. The calibre of these teams highlights the popularity of cycling in Dubai and its emergence as a leading cycling destination. Riders are now choosing to take advantage of the city’s world class cycling facilities in the cooler winter months.
Jumeirah Group has extended its partnership with David Millar, which started last year with a series of cycling weekends at Jumeirah Port Soller in Mallorca. Jumeirah is now able to offer the possibility of year-round cycling: summer in Mallorca and winter in Dubai.
The ‘Ultimate Pro-Cycling Experience’ will return to Dubai between 10-14 October 2017 and is priced at 15,000AED ++ for a four night stay for two people at Jumeirah Al Naseem inclusive of full board.
