Yesterday the government of Karnataka has declared that it would be hosting the Karnataka International Travel Expo (KITE) from 28th February, claiming it would be the ‘largest’ B2B travel event in the nation.
This three-day event would witness nearly 400 delegates from 25 countries who would be participating.
Priyank Kharge who is the Tourism Minister of Karnataka mentioned that for the very first time in the country they would be having the largest event that is an international expo for the tourism and travel sector.
They have an aim to portray Karnataka internationally and also lure a good amount of tourist footfall while emphasizing the wildlife of the state, adventure and luxury destinations, UNESCO world heritage sites, historical monuments and so on.
Overall a budget amounting to Rs. seven crore is estimated to be spent on this event, he added.
Officials have said that KITE would see the participation of at least 100 international buyers and 250 domestic or national buyers like tour operators, travel agents, destination management professionals, wedding planners and others.
This event would, for the first time see a blogathon that would be attended by international travel bloggers as per Kharge.
Kharge also mentioned that at least a 100 bloggers would be participating in this blogathon as is expected. And this event would also have a separate pavilion to promote new technologies and innovations in the tourism industry.
Kharge also said that Karnataka enjoys ninth and fourth position in the country in luring foreign and domestic tourists respectively.
