After Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India declared on August 15th that people should visit 15 domestic destinations a year, the state tourism department and travel agencies are all set to prepare a list of the best destinations to showcase. As the Tourism ministry is showcasing the 17 listed sites in the recently declared Union budget, Karnataka tourism department is listing the top 20 destinations in the state.

There are many more than these, particularly in states like Karnataka, like Karwar, Golconda and other forts. The ministry has earmarked 2022 and has set the deadline to develop and upgrade the sites with all state-of-the-art facilities. The detailed project report for these sites is being prepared, Farouk said.

Some of the best destinations are located inside forest areas or are protected by Archaeological Survey of India and cannot be developed any further,” he added.

Also, travel agents are coming up with plans and policies to attract tourists. Rajeev Kale, President and Country Head, Mice, Visas- Thomas Cook India said they have also detailed few of the most preferred destinations in Karnataka that travelers can explore. With six operating airports in Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi, Vijayanagar in Hampi and Mysuru, Karnataka has viewed an approximate 12% to 15% year on year growth in demand, offering a cultural mix of heritage along with diverse flora and fauna.
