The Karnataka Tourism Department plans to tap into the state’s potential of being ‘One State, Many Worlds’. Keeping up with the concept of “experiential tourism”, which is a hit among tourists, the Karnataka Tourism Department has announced the novel ‘Script Your Adventure’ as the theme for 2018. Last year it was ‘Year of the Wild’.
Launching the theme on Monday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that Karnataka has a plethora of rich offerings, including heritage, culture, nature, beaches and wildlife. The State’s Tourism Department started coming up with themes last year, where it promoted the abundant wildlife tourism prospects here.
“The idea behind ‘Script Your Adventure’ is not only to allow tourists to experience Karnataka by connecting to its rich history, people and culture, but also experience the wild side of life and adventure sports in the State,” said Priyank Kharge, Minister for IT, BT and Tourism.
As part of the ‘Year of the Wild’ campaign, several adventure tourism activities such as international surfing festival in Mangaluru, motorcycle tourism in Hampi, aerosports, sky diving in Mysuru, and water sports in Mangaluru and Karwar were initiated, said a release. This year, the focus will also be on adventure tourism to capitalise on Karnataka’s large jungle tracks, forests of the Western Ghats and the long coastline.
