Kashmir tourism losing tourists due to waning of hospitality

Kashmir tourismBesides heavenly natural beauty, breathtaking landscapes and amazing climate, the hospitality of Kashmir is one of the key elements that attract tourists to Kashmir and it famous for its hospitality.

 
Kashmir tourism has suffered a major loss in early 1990’s due to political instability. However, the efforts taken by the state Tourism Department and the tourism stakeholders in reviving the tourism in Kashmir cannot be ignored at the same time.

 
They are vigorously working on promoting Kashmir tourism around the world and in spite of obstacles like critical political situation in Kashmir, negative publicity, by some vested elements, and the natural disasters, they have shown resistance and have achieved success in their endeavor and bought tourism industry back on its track.

 
People of Kashmir are very hospitable in nature and tourists always speak and appreciate the same.

 
However, looking at the current ground situation of various tourist spots in Kashmir, the situation is not the same.

 
One of the key elements of sustainable tourism like customer satisfaction needs to be improved. Tourists need to have good experience. The tourists often face issues at tourist spots like Sonmarg, Gulmarg etc.

 
Tourists visiting these places complain that they are being harassed, cheated, overcharged and forced to take services by unprofessional and unregistered unit holders/persons.

 
However, majority of these complains remain ignored. The internet is full of such complaints from cheated tourists.

 
Being in a highly digitized world, the tourists nowadays book and choose their travel destination after researching and reading the blogs and reviews online and from various travel advisory website.

 
The increasing number of such negative complaints can hamper Kashmir tourism promotional activities in particular. Footfall of many tourists is also decreasing gradually.
The concerned authorities should take these complaints seriously and formulate immediate policies to overcome these problems.
