Tourism of KashmirBringing back tourists to the Kashmir Valley has emerged as a matter of priority for both the Central and State government of India.
This process is currently being supported by a decision by the Northern Railways to introduce an all-weather air-conditioned 40-seat train equipped with Vistadome coaches in the valley.
Vistadome coaches offer electrically controlled opalescence and this makes it transparent.
This would offer passengers a panoramic view of their journey. For a more beautiful view passengers can also make their way to special observation lounges. These coaches would also have rotatable-pushback seats.
Other features comprise LED lights, automatic sliding compartment doors, GPS-based information system.
A trial run would be conducted from Nowgam in Srinagar to Sadura in Anantnag district. From now onwards tourists would be able to witness some of the most mesmerizing sights that are on offer throughout the year.
Only two other train routes in India possess Vistadome coaches that include the Vishakhapatnam-Araku Valley line and Mumbai-Goa line.
At this juncture officials in the Northern Railways have commenced working out the commercial and operational modalities of starting this 40-seat train.
Keeping in mind the civil unrest in the Valley, train officials have asked youngsters not to throw stones on the train once it is operational.
