Kazakhstan launched the promotion of Expo 2017 Astana, which will commence in June, with a conference yesterday for bringing the Central Asian country closer to Europeans. In June, Kazakhstan will become the first country in the Central Asian region to hold an event of global stature.
“We are proud to organize this event in the heart of what was once the Silk Road,” said Roza Assanbayeva, Expo 2017 Deputy Director for Promotion and Tourism. The Expo has the theme, “Future Energy,” and with this theme, Kazakhstan aims to become the focus of sustainable development.
Assanbayeva said, “The Expo will showcase the best solutions and innovations in renewable energy.” Kazakhstan aims to elevate its international profile and increase tourism through this event. Along with Dyussenbayev and Roza Assanbayeva, World Tourism Organization Silk Road Project Director Alla Peressolova also took part in the event.
