Kenya’s tourism marketing agency Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has been voted Africa’s leading tourist Board for the fifth year running beating Egyptian Tourist Authority, Gambian Tourism Board and Ghana Tourism Authority respectively.
KTB was feted at the World Travel Awards (WTA), Africa & the Indian Ocean Islands Gala in a ceremony held at the Diamond La Gemma Hotel in Zanzibar on 9th April.
Leading over 20 Kenyan travel companies to clinch awards in different categories is Maasai Mara National Reserve that was voted Africa’s Leading National Park for the third time in a row while Diani retained the top position as Africa’s Leading Beach Destination.
Africa’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination went to Nairobi while Mombasa clinched Africa’s leading Destination and Africa’s Cruise Port 2016.
KTB chairman Jimi Kariuki while welcoming the award attributed the success to KTB’s efforts of being the absolute best in all aspects of marketing the country’s tourism offerings.
“We are honored to win the title of the Africa’s Leading Tourism Board for the fifth time with our extensive recovery and stabilization from the recent low performance in the sector as a result of many factors,” said the chairman.
Tourism Principal Secretary Mrs Fatuma Hirsi who presented the award to KTB staff and the board pointed out that marketing initiatives have brought the success the institution has enjoyed for the past four years.
