Kenya’s tourism looks bright with increase of conference tourism

KenyaKenya is continuing to reap on the advantages of last year’s visits by the Pope and former US President Barack Obama. Kenya is now one of the most sought after countries for high-level conferences, meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) sector.


Nairobi was named this year as the leading African meetings and conference destination at the World Travel Awards. Also, Kenya was named the second-most popular meetings destination in sub-Saharan Africa, after South Africa in last year’s International Congress and Convention Association world rankings.

Some of the key events that helped make this year memorable for players in the MICE sector are: The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad); The sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (Ticad VI); The fourth East Africa Oil and Gas Summit & Exhibition (EAOGS); Agritec Africa; Global Partnership for Economic Development Co-operation (HLM2); Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D);
