Kerala tourism to develop adventure tourism for attracting young travelers

Kerala tourismP. Bala Kiran, IAS, Director, Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, talked about the novel initiatives and promotional plans that are expected to boost tourist arrivals to the state.

The government of Kerala will launch its new tourism policy focused on ‘green carpet’ initiative. Under this initiative, the tourism board of the state would build a sustainable destination management system. It would be a comprehensive awareness campaign, and the government plans to represent Kerala as a cleanest, safest and the healthiest state to woo tourists from around the world.

The aim of the Kerala government is to target the youth by offering them adventure tourism opportunities.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala is following a robust development plan in order to promote the adventure tourism in the state as it has huge potential and can substantially contribute to the overall growth of the tourism sector. For that purpose, the tourism board is keen on working closely with the Forest Department. The endeavor of joint efforts with the forest department will result in the growth of adventure tourism without harming the environment.

Kerala will be known henceforth as ‘The Land of Adventure’ to woo the younger generation of tourists by offering them activity and water-based tourism. Moreover, the Department of Tourism has planned to develop water based activities like Kayaking, Cruise tourism.


Additionally, the state government plans to develop 10 eco-tourism circuits to connect various forests in order to promote green tourism.

Kerala offers vacationers to explore adventure activities like trekking, wildlife safari, mountain climbing, river rafting, paragliding etc.
