The Kerala tourism department has listed out a total of 12 trade fairs and 24 road shows under its international campaign for 2017-18, which will begin with a participation in PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Travel Mart which will be held in Macau from September 13 to 15.
The department has allocated an increased budget for marketing and promotions this year. It has planned to increase the number of trade fairs to attend and road shows (B2B meets) to be organized in key global markets, which they believe will generate more business.
After analyzing tourist arrivals over the last five years, the department has picked up the countries for the campaign, preferring markets which saw a good growth. Tourism principal secretary V Venu said, “We want to concentrate and work on key markets, and these partnership meets will be great opportunities to pick key partners and to work more intensely with them on more projects.”
To be attended/organized in two phases (September-November and January-March), the trade fairs and B2Bs will showcase varied products of Kerala Tourism in the traditional European market (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Netherlands), USA, Russia, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and the emerging Middle East markets (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and UAE). B2Bs are also being organized in Male, Maldives, from where there has been 100% growth in tourist arrival, and in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The department will be able to accommodate a total of around 15 operators in each B2Bs, while there’s no such limit for participation in trade fairs.
