The San Diego Tourism Authority (SDTA) declared Kerri Kapich appointed by the SDTA to be the Chief Operating Officer. She is a renowned leader of the tourism industry who has been the backbone of SDTA’s various praiseworthy advertising programs for over 15 years now. She is the first person to be appointed in that position.
SDTA President and CEO Joe Terzi said, “In her tenure as the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships, Kerri has become even more engaged within the organization and local tourism industry, supporting key community and strategic initiatives while still driving our marketing program success. In recognition of the strategic role Kerri is serving within our organization and industry, I am pleased to announce her promotion to Chief Operating Officer.”
Her various achievements include getting the National Geographic Channel to San Diego to film the 2015 “World’s Smart Cities” documentary, which focused San Diego in more than 60 countries. Kapich was the brain behind the major Happiness is Calling campaign which was awarded with the Best Overall Marketing Program at the Poppy Awards. The campaign’s success in unprecedented, because of which San Diego last year broke all records in tourism. Kapich has numerous laurels to her name. She has 25 years of marketing experience and membership of various travel associations. She has many awards to her name, like the Advertising Age Marketing 100 Award, San Diego Magazine “50 People to Watch,” and the San Diego Hotel-Motel Association Gold Key Allied Person of the Year Award.
With this newly entrusted responsibility on her, a lot will be expected along with leading the marketing division and strategic planning. Kapich has been promoted to keep up with the achievements of the past year, where she had played a very active role.
