Secret Life of Pearls, created by Paspaley Pearling Company and produced by Northern Pictures, has its Australian premiere on Monday night (March 14).
Filmed over 12 months, the 45-minute film explores the beauty and hazards that surround divers in the Kimberley’s pristine waters as they search for rare and valuable south sea pearls.
The documentary is described as “the story of a remarkable collaboration between man and nature in one of the most remote and dramatic landscapes on Earth”.
Fox Networks Group Managing Director Jacqui Feeney said: “Secret Life of Pearls uses spectacular cinematography and dramatic storytelling to take viewers on an unforgettable journey to remote Western Australia, to observe first-hand the workings of a remarkable industry.”
Globally, National Geographic Channel is available in more than 440 million homes in 171 countries and 45 languages.
Secret Life of Pearls premieres on Monday, March 14 at 9.30pm on Australia’s National Geographic Channel and is expected to be shown in other countries soon.
