Kodiak Alaska still hit by earthquakes, Oregon, Nevada suffer shocks

Published on : Tuesday, January 30, 2018

alaskaA major tsunami warning was issued across the state after a 7.9 magnitude earthquake hit the north-west, Alaska and mainland USA were being hit hourly and were seem mirrored in Japan and the Philippines.

It was reported that the zones were on the terrifying Ring of Fire which is a system of highly active tectonic plates in the Earth’s crust, they are continuously crashing into each other resulting in quakes.

However the movement is slight and the earthquakes is manageable currently. The plates are so massive that even a slight increase in intensity will spark earthquakes capable of leveling cities.

The USA’s Rocky Mountains running down the west coast were formed due to tectonic activity.

Minute by minute the movements were monitored by the Seismologists who feared the next one could be the quake which takes out California.

During the early hours of Sunday morning a 4.3 magnitude had hit Alaska , 283 km of Kodiak, at 1.01 am a 2.5 magnitude quake had hit Coldfeet in Alaska.

At around 3.06 am after a few hours Kodiak was again struck by a 4.1 magnitude quake and at 3.48 am in the south east of Kodiak the largest 4.7 magnitude earthquake was felt.

Kodiak in Alaska was hit again with 4.5 magnitude shock at 6.22 am  and  again at 7am with a 3.3 magnitude quake.

2.9 magnitude measuring quake occurred in the Kodiak Station in Alaska.

The Gulf of Alaska had 4.2 magnitude earthquake just before 7am this morning and was followed multiple quakes of around 3 to 3.5 magnitude within an hour.

After the trail of destruction left after a magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck in the Gulf of Alaska shortly after midnight local time on Thursday the communities in Alaska were trying to recover.

The  walls of Kodiak City Fire Hall had large cracks and oil was released at a local refinery.

15 km South east of Soda Springs in Idaho was shaken by a magnitude 2.6 quake after an hour at 2.51 am Bandon in Oregon witnessed a 2.9 magnitude earthquake.

Located on the same edge of the tectonic plate places on the far south like the Mexico, El Salvador and Chile also felt the quakes.

On the other side of Pacific in Misawa Japan a 4.8 magnitude quake was felt while a 4.3 quake hit Babakantonggoh, Indonesia along with multiple tremors in Fiji  and New Zealand.

The fear of a Big One,  an imminent earthquake of more than  8 magnitude might decimate the US west coast due to the huge seismic activity.
