This year’s Korea MICE Expo (KME), the nation’s leading business events trade show, will take place at Songdo ConvensiA, Incheon from June 15-16. The two-day event will give the expected 2,700 visitors, including 300 domestic and international buyers and 250 local sellers, the opportunity to discover the Korea MICE Bureau’s expanded support program for meetings and incentives in 2017. Overseas participants will able to be able to network with Korean suppliers and visit local event venues and attractions in Incheon, Seoul, and Gyeonggi Province firsthand, including the newly-opened Paradise City integrated resort complex.
The range of support programs on offer in 2017 falls into a range of categories, the eligibility for which is determined by an event’s size and duration. For events running at least three days and with either more than 100 overseas attendees or 50 attendees in total if organized by an international body, items include a complimentary banquet for delegates, cultural programs and tours, performances, and high-quality Korean souvenirs. More information about the expanded support is available at the Korea MICE Bureau’s upgraded Request For Proposal page.
In addition to networking opportunities on the show floor, on-site program highlights include a welcome reception and dinner event for buyers and sellers, which will also feature presentations and live performances. June 16th will see the return of the K-MICE Forum, which will include a series of discussions and panels, this year focusing on the future of the tourism industry in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In keeping with Songdo ConvensiA’s green aims, all program information and presentation materials will be only be made available online.
Delegates can opt to join a pre-tour of Incheon on June 14th and a two-day post-tour of a choice of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces, or the cities of Gyeongju and Busan. Located next to Incheon International Airport, Paradise City, which opened on April 20th, expects to draw 1.5 million visitors to its accommodation, gaming, shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities in 2017 according to co-owners Paradise Co. Ltd.
KME 2017 is hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization and the Incheon Tourism Organization. It is the eighteenth edition of the Korea MICE Expo since it began as the Korea Convention Fair in 2000. Songdo ConvensiA, which also hosted KME 2016, recently saw major expansions to its facilities, with the addition of 66,600m² of event space effectively doubling its capacity for meetings and exhibitions. Forming part of Incheon’s Free Economic Zone, the Songdo district has become the city’s hotspot for international business events and Korean headquarters of various global corporate firms and academic institutions.
