The memorandum of cooperation with Messe Berlin (Singapore) Pte Ltd, organiser of ITB Asia, looks to increase the promotion of tourism in Korea and its opportunity in order to appeal it as a best key destination for leisure travel in Southeast Asia.
Messe Berlin (Singapore) Executive Director Katrina Leung said that ITB Asia has been chosen as a key platform of choice for KTO in bridging more visitors and the buyer’s connections to boost the awareness of Korea’s tourism industry.
The Korea Tourism Organisation director Yoon Seung Hwan added that the growing business trends in the corporate world is increasing. For, MICE, Asia is a most important market. The partnership with ITB Asia will expand with the presence and strengthen their proposition to the Asian and Southeast Asian market.
Korea now ranks in the first spot for global congresses. This result is a reflection of the strong growth by established Korean meeting cities such as Seoul, as well as other well known destinations such as Busan, Jeju, and Incheon, contributing to the country’s increasingly diverse business events portfolio.
Korea Tourism Organisation along with Seoul Tourism Organisation, Jeju Convention and Visitors Bureau and HanaTour Services Inc will have their respective booths at ITB Asia 2017 to provide latest information on Korea’s attractions, convention and activities.
This will follow on from the success of ITB Asia in 2016, where almost 900 buyers attended the show, leading to a 1:1 ratio between exhibitors and buyers.
Over 50 percent of industry buyers signed the trade deals with exhibitors after the event. 43% of attending buyers had the purchasing power of USD500, 000 to USD 1 million and 85.7% of attending buyers were direct decision makers of the business and the travel industry.
