La Yeon, The Shilla Seoul’s fine-dining Korean restaurant, has once again been recognised for its excellence at the 2016 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards ceremony.Launched in 2013, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, provides an annual snapshot of the opinions and experiences of over 300 industry experts across Asia. The voting panel comprises Asia’s most respected chefs, restaurateurs and food critics.
“To be recognised by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for a second consecutive year is a significant honour,” says Chef Kim Sung Il, La Yeon’s culinary master. “The inclusion in the list motivates our team to continue our vision of showcasing the beauty of Korean culture through La Yeon’s traditional cuisine.”
Since 2013, La Yeon has offered diners authentic traditional Korean cuisine with time-honoured recipes and quality, seasonal ingredients. Last year, Chef Kim led his culinary team in creating a 10-course tasting menu by reviving recipes from a 500-year-old cookbook, Sooeunjapbang, which dates back to ancient Korea.
La Yeon features courses with new menus including a range of inspired dishes that honour classic Korean flavours. From the ingredients and seasonings, to the choice of charcoal used for grilling, only premium Korean-made products are used. The restaurant’s research team has also developed its own preserving and processing techniques to ensure diners experience only the very best in Korean cuisine.
