Although Langkawi is a renowned world destination, but efforts to promote this island needs to be continuous in order to make it grab better limelight in the future. This was said by Tan Sri Khalid Ramli, Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) chief executive officer.
Since Langkawi is now on world tourism map, the focus needs to be on attracting more tourists for improving income of the tourism industry now. He added that Langkawi tourism needs to customize their services to meet requirements of luxury tourism. He said, “They will have to re-look the quality of their services and facilities to ensure that they are on par with the standards expected by the high-end tourists.”
Khalid said that Lada is prepared to aid training of tour operators to improve their skills in managing high-end tourists besides improving the infrastructure to advance the industry further. This high-end tourism promotion was also featured in the Langkawi Tourism Blueprint 2.0, a sequential five-year master plan devised by Lada until 2020 for the progress of the industry on the island.
