A landslide in the industrial park in the Southern Chinese city of Shenzhen killed at least 91 people. The man made mountain of excavated soil and construction waste swept through the industrial park of South China.
The local news agencies report that at least 33 buildings were either buried or damaged in Shenzhen. The industrial area is across the border from Hong Kong and Guangdong province is the place where top companies manufacture their cell phones and cars.
The landslide may have been caused due to the debris originating from a man made mountain of dirt, cement chunks and other construction waste that had piled to a 100 meters, (330-foot) -high hill over the past two years. The area covered by the landslide was 100,000 Sq meters.
