After receiving a threat from the intelligence about some hidden explosives, Jordan’s Flag carrier flying out of Queen Alia International Airport, implemented on electronics larger than the cellphone in the carry-on bags to be banned.
Royal Jordanian Airline is one of the nine airlines flying from 10 airports in eight countries where the banning was imposed.
Royal Jordanian was among the first airlines who announced the ban and made fun of the different treatment for its passengers.
However, the US department of Homeland and Security stated on June 28 that airlines will have the flexibility of being removed from the prohibition if the electronics are larger than cell phone and it could clear the security measures.
Eithad Airways, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Qatar airways got off recently.
The security measures are applicable to 180 airlines flying to the US from across 280 airports in 105 countries. The sole intention is to detect explosives hidden inside electronics and preventing airport workers from smuggling bombs aboard planes.
If the airlines fail to meet standards a laptop ban for carry-on and checked bags will be applicable on flights to the US.
EgyptAir, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways and Royal Air Maroc are the remaining airlines lifted in the March laptop ban.
