LATAM Airlines Group Publishes 2014 Sustainability Report

latam airlinesLATAM Airlines Group, one of the largest airline groups in the world and operator of the TAM and LAN brands, announces the publication of its second Sustainability Report, structured in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicator.

 

 

The publication reaffirms achievements by TAM and LAN to measure the impact of their activities, in addition to plans to continuously improve social, economic and environmental performance.  Publication also reaffirms LATAM Group’s commitment to growing through direct and transparent relations with its stakeholders, including employees, customers, public authorities, commercial authorities and related communities.

 

 

 

“LATAM Airlines Group is one of a select group of leading companies in sustainability.  In 2014, we were the first carrier in the Americas and the second in the world included on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, the most important global indicator in the area.  This is the source of great pride for us, as it confirms our commitment to all stakeholders to constantly work to build a transparent and responsible company in all aspects, be it economic, social or environmental,” said Enrique Cueto, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group.

 

 

 

Since the merger of TAM and LAN, LATAM Airlines Group has continuously implemented initiatives to reduce its impact on the environment, including the use of modern aircraft and the implementation of cutting-edge technology to reduce carbon emissions and generate greater fuel economy.  Other initiatives include the development of an Energy Efficiency Program, at both offices and maintenance stations, and the development of biofuels for future flight operations in the region.

 

 

Between 2013 and 2014, the Company mapped and defined topics and the most relevant economic, social and environmental impacts of its business, serving as the basis for the Group’s 2015-2018 Corporate Sustainability Strategy.  This strategy covers three dimensions that are essential to transforming LATAM Airlines Group into an increasingly sustainable company:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“In 2015, we face the challenge of launching and executing programs, activities and goals associated with the Corporate Sustainability Strategy, while solidifying the foundations for our continuity into the coming years and pursuit of our goal of becoming one of the top three airlines in the world,” said Enrique Cueto.
