Leading German Tourism Company DER Touristik has chosen Malta as the venue for its annual summer 2014 brochure launch event. At this event, the company shall be presenting its new 2014 brochure to 60 renowned German journalists – ranging from upscale German dailies to consumer, travel and online magazines. The DER Touristik top Management will also be present for this event, which is taking place from the 10th till the 13th November 2013 at the Intercontinental Malta.
DER Touristik is one of Germany’s leading tourism companies and forms part of the renowned “REWE” group.
Apart from the press conference being held, another highlight of the DER Touristik event will be an award ceremony for the prestigious annual travel journalist award which is known as the “Meridian”. This shall take place at the impressive Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.
During their stay in Malta, the journalists will get a chance to experience the diversity which one can find in Malta and Gozo. The journalists will, through a varied programme, visit the Island’s main heritage and cultural sites, such as Valletta, Mdina and Hagar Qim, while they will also get a taste of the islands’ Mediterranean cuisine.
The Malta Tourism Authority’s CEO, Mr. Josef Formosa Gauci, commenting on this prestigious event said: “Thanks to the efforts of our office in Germany, DER Touristik has chosen Malta for their brochure launch and for their prestigious travel journalist award. This will also further strengthen our relationship with such an important German tourism player and industry partner. The participation of 60 renowned journalists will moreover guarantee enormous exposure for the Maltese Islands in the German media.”
DER Touristik currently has 6,500 employees and achieved a turnover of 4.7 billion EUR in the year 2012. Under its umbrella it brings together various renowned tour operators, hotel and other special touristic brands. 500 travel agencies nationwide are operating under the DER brand.
