Event co-organiser Thai Leathergoods Association vice president Veera Lertruangpunyavut told reporters on Monday the event will showcase Thai leather and fashion products and is hoped to boost domestic sales and exports.
More than 200 leather manufacturing firms are taking part in the expo and spending by foreign visitors is projected to hit over 20 million baht (US$592,238).
Veera said overseas demand for Thai fashion and leather goods such as bags, shoes and mobile phone accessories has been on the rise since early this year especially in the United States, European Union and Japan.
Exports are forecast to grow more than 4 per cent on average in 2015 and earn about US$2 billion in revenue.
The expo is also organised by the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of International Trade Promotion.
